CHOOSING -
When I want to see what plants work in a suburb or area, I start walking! Check out your neighbourhood, from the realy healthy gardens in the area for the spectacular. Often, stopping for a chat will lead to sharing knowledge or the odd cutting!!Even checking out the neglected properties or rental properties will lead you to your hardy varieties!
Talking to an expert rose grower in the area or contacting a specialist nursery will help with information on planning and planting a rose or rose garden. When you walk in, asking someone who works there "who is the best person here to talk to about roses?" will often help you more.
Tried and true classics are often more plentiful, cheaper and hardier than the latest prize-winning specimens.
"own root roses" are bushes grown from cuttings and are ofter hardier and longer-lived than common grafted roses, so end up being worth the extra cost.
Hot, humid areas : look at old fashioned tea roses, chinas and noisettes - these are old dinosaurs that thrive on sultry weather. Mostly avoid hybrid tea roses and some polyantha roses.
Seaside or high salt areas : The rugosa roses are rugged as wellas being attractive and survive the salt, drought and low temperatures. You can also form them into hedges!
Ground cover : Why not use a climber if you have an area of bank or garden to cover. All you have to do is peg them to the ground using metal Us intstead of to a trellis!

"I was so pleased with the results that Tanya Ray and Rosanne from United Home Services Cleaning Wantirna achieved in making my bathrooms gleam, my kitchen shine, and the floorboards have never been so clean! Pity that the grandchildren visited the next day! Oh well I guess that I shall just have to have them come again soon. They were so accommodating and willing to please. "
