United's Little Life Tips and Tricks
Although these seemingly small initiatives may not appear to achieve much at first, if you make them part of your daily routine you will be surprised looking back at the extent to which your life has changed in a significant and meaningful way.
Remember that every little bit counts; 15 minutes saved a day equates to just over 90 hours or 6 days of useable time a year. Just think what you could do with 6 full days to spend on something you’ve always wanted to do but never had the time to do it. Our objective is to help you spend more time on those things in life that really matter.

Little Tip # 1 – Buy 7 pairs of the same Socks
It’s a small thing but I’m sure you’re like me and hate the time spent trying to match your work socks or those of your husband. To overcome this problem I recommend
Little Tip # 10 – Matt at the door (Inside & Out)
If you don’t like the idea of taking your shoes off at the door (Little Tip # 9) then I strongly recommend having an inside matt as well as the more typical external matt at each door into the house.
Little Tip # 11 – Portable Cordless Vacuum
We have within our house a small wall mounted cordless vacuum that can quickly and easily be used for minor spills and touch ups around the house. This overcomes the need to bring out the main vacuum (which required a lot more fuss) when there just a small job to do. I’m not referring to the
Little Tip # 12 – Soap Pump Packs
We were told by the firm that recently fitted a new shower screen for us that the soap in the pump packs is far better in terms of reducing the smear that is typically left on shower screens and
Little Tip # 13 – Use One Shower
For many years, whilst the kids were young we got them to use our onsuite rather than shower in the family bathroom
Little Tip # 14 – Use the Library
A lot of the clutter I see around peoples homes relates to books and magazines. One great way to reduce the number of these lying around your house is to join the local library.
Little Tip # 2 – Allocate tasks to a day in the week
Rather than trying to work out each day what’s important take the things that you know really need to be done and allocate a day of the week to getting them done.
Little Tip # 3 – Stop Reading Magazines
We’ve talked elsewhere about how to keep up with what’s really happening in the world. The problem with most of today’s magazines is that it’s so easy getting lost in the seemingly romantic
Little Tip # 4 – Stay Off The Telephone
The telephone has the potential to chew up enormous amounts of otherwise valuable time. While it can provide an important tool for keeping in touch and maintaining relationships it can also absorb so much of a typical day. Get yourself a good answering service and let most of your calls go to the answering machine. Then allocate a couple of slots in your day when you return those calls.
Little Tip # 5 – Stop Reading Escape Novels & Watching Television
Just like we’ve mentioned in the past regarding magazines try and cut down on escape type literature and TV viewing. A book every so often is great and highly recommended, especially when on holidays but during a typical week there’s so much more you could be doing with your time.
Little Tip # 6 – Buy clothes that go in the washing machine
Hopefully we’re all doing it already but ensure when you do buy new clothes they are the type that can simple get thrown into the washing machine unless your happy to have them dry cleaned on a regular basis
Little Tip # 7 – Buy Birthday Presents In Advance and In Bulk
Most of us in any typical year will need to buy numerous presents for our children’s friends, and our nieces and nephews. Personally we now save considerable time and money each year by buying in advance.
Little Tip # 8 – Direct Debit
This is a particular favourite of mine as I cannot understand why so many people spend so much time worrying about paying there regular bills. We put all our regular accounts onto direct payment
Little Tip # 9 – Shoes Off Inside
Taking your shoes off at the door is something we have seen a lot of in our travels overseas. It a very common practice in many countries and you would be amazed at the difference it makes

"When I lost the cleaners I had for 8 years I was devastated, especially when I went through 3 more sets of cleaners in about 6 months, trying to find another good service. And then I found Anna and Dominic from United Home Services Cleaning Mentone and they have been with me for quite sometime now. I like stability, I like that I can depend on them and know they will turn up and do a good job."

"Dear Melanie, just a quick note to let you know how impressed I have been on the several occassion's that Andrei Dobrovolsky from United Home Services Carpet Cleaning has cleaned my carpets. On two occassions it was at quite short notice and he never failed with his manner and promptness. Especially on the last occassion he was here, and I was so very upset with the sudden loss of our puppy dog. Just the right empathy along with the clean rugs! Hope his business continues to thrive. Kind Regards"
