Big Tip # 4 – Reduce the number of Kids Toys available


 
If you have kids then you will find that there is a constant stream of gifts and presents that enter the house but very few that leave. Allot of time is therefore spent in the daily clean up of the various toys that abound. Without necessarily throwing anything away (although this will form the basis of a future tip!) we have found that by regularly “culling” what’s on offer you can save yourself allot of time in cleaning up each day. Every couple of months my Husband and I grab a big green garbage bag and simply put in it a selection of toys that don’t seem to have been used regularly over the past couple months. We then put that bag up in one of the cupboards and forget about it for the next two months. The kids never notice the toys have gone and there is less mess to clean up each day. At the end of the two months we simply bring the bag down, pull the toys out and stash another load back in the bag following the same principal as before. The kids will be pleased to see some of their old toys back again and like before, not even notice the loss of others. There may even be some toys you choose to get rid of there and then, as you pull them out of the bag and realise that they are not really necessary after all. With fewer toys children become more creative so don’t think that you’re actually depriving them of something. To the contrary, you’re actually helping them to develop their creativity which is a good thing. Most importantly however, with less things actually in the house there will be less for you to clean up.
