United Home Services began in Melbourne as a family owned cleaning business over15 years ago. In these early years United was run with direct employees and contractors. This provided an intimate knowledge of the services being offered before franchising was commenced in 1995. While these years were exhausting they focused the business on the divisions that provided the greatest franchising potential. The divisions chosen: Cleaning, Gardening and Ironing all have a number of things in common. Firstly there is a high customer demand for them. Secondly they involve relatively simple skill that can be easily taught and finally they all involve repeat visits to the same customers. We focus our efforts on training our franchisees to provide the highest levels of quality and customer service and maintaining that level throughout their time of service.

United began Franchising with a focus very much on the Victorian market and now has over 100 franchisees operating in both Sydney, Newcastle, NSW Central Coast, Melbourne, South East Melbourne, Brisbane South.  In 2003 United was taken over by new owners who have reinvigorated the business and have expanded it further into other states of Australia through the appointment of Regional Franchises.
United Home Services operates as Housework Heroes in Western Australia, and South Australia.
